Gold and Silver from Grandpa and Grandma

My parents bought gold and silver anklets for Rayhans. In chinese means 'chuan1 jing1 dai4 ying2' - so hope Rayhan's life will be good and properous. The gold dog is from my siblings (eldest, second sisters and brother) as Rayhan is born in the year of dog.

First bath/shower - Shiok ah....

Today Elsie (Confinement lady) made herbal shower water for me to bath...By right should bath after 12 days, but i mis-calculated the days and thought it is 12 days but actually today is the 11th days. Anyway Elsie said my pores are closed so can take bath. My hair was so stinky and sticky even after i tried to use the powder shampoo. So shiok to take the herbal bath to wash my super long hair (reach below waist) and my stinky sticky body. Now clean clean nice nice...heehee...

SB Test

Today went back to clinic to do SB blood test (for jaundice). Came back from the clinic and took a nap. An hour later my mobile phone rang and the clinic informed me that baby Rayhan's jaundice has dropped from 317.2umol/L(07 Oct) to 198umol/L(today). Baby Rayhan doesn't need to sleep on the UV bed anymore (tomorrow they will collect back). So happy (^__^)/~. Though the ref.range for jaundice is 5-30umol/L but i am happy that he doesn't have to sleep on that horrible uncomfortable bed anymore. During the hospitalization, his jaundice level was 195umol/L. So now his jaundice level is rather close to the level during hospitalization. Baby Rayhan is now put back on his '5 stars' baby cot to sleep (lack one star because the comforter sent for washing). See he's so happy sleeping once again...

Jaundice!!!

Today we brought Rayhan for his first checkup. The air outside was so hazy that we had to cover him with nappy cloth to protect him from hazy air while walking to the carpark. At the clinic, they were many babies waiting their turn to see their doc. They did a blood test (SB) on baby Rayhan and the result came back that his jaundice level has increased (during discharge from hospital, his jaundice level was still mild). So Doc Siva gave us 2 options - (1) Rent the UV cot to let him sleep or (2) hospitalization. We chose to rent the UV cot ($245.70 for 3 nights). The cot arrived right after we reached home after visiting the clinic. Then we tried to put baby Rayhan on the cot naked (except diaper and the eye mask to protect his eyes from the UV) but he just cried and cried...seeing him like this breaks my heart...coming Monday we will have another blood test and may God bless my baby to recover from jaundice. Sob sob...

Bitter gourd bath

Today Elsie boiled bitter gourd to bath Rayhan as he develops a lot of acne and he's red like a lobster. Elsie said because when he was in my womb, my body was heaty so he is heaty and thus develops all these. But will go away soon...She said pearl powder is also good for cooling down. So my husband is getting some pearl powder from Yu Ren Sheng. Then my malay massage lady came to do massage for me (today is 2nd day) and she saw Rayhan and advised to cook rice with water and use the rice water to bath him. Ha...so many remedies...hahaha...

Confinement Lady - Elsie

Actually i engaged a confinement lady called Feng Jie but due to my early delivery, she cannot work for me but asked her cousin (an agent) to recommend another lady to me. My confinement lady is very fluent in english as she picked up english while working at American Embassy to look after babies when she was 18 years old. She just came back from an assignment working for ang mo who flew her to UK to work there for 2 months. She has very rich experience in taking care babies and confinement women for more than 20 years...Very nice lady...always say nice things to my son...like auntie loves Rayhan...Rayhan good boy...smart boy...Today is only day 2 but my son can recognise her better than recognising me...hahaha Elsie always wants me to rest...hahaha...

4 October 2006 - Home Sweet Home (^__^)/~~~

Actually doc wanted to discharge me on the 3rd of October but baby's strep B result would only be back on 4th. So we stayed another night. On 4th October, Doc came and told us baby had slight jaundice but could be discharged and his strep B result showed negative. Finally we could go home...home sweet home...where a family stays (FAMILY stands for Father, Mother, I Love You...)

Mount E provides free limosine service to chauffeur us home...and it's a high class black looking merc...very shiok! The moment we went home, we quickly took out the combi stroller and placed baby there as the whole house was in a mess. His baby cot was not ready as the plastic bag was still intact covering the mattress...my poor husband quickly mopped baby's room and arranged baby's cot with the mattress set. Unpacked half way, the door bell rang and my confinement lady came. hahaha...in the end confinement lady helped us to unpack everything (including her sofa bed, still in plastic cover too) and cleaned the house. Isn't my boy handsome...proud to be his mommy...

Presents from friends...

These are presents from friends during my stay in hospital.
Except the thermometer...my husband bought it...

During hospitalization...

Sorry that this picture is kind of blur...my hand was still weak after giving birth. Rayhan likes to put his fist into his mouth...hahaha guess he picks up this habit from me as i like to bite nails (will try to quit this habit for my son) hee...

Haha...no more elephant feet...i have my feet back...hahaha...no more swelling...sorry...my feet not pretty...paiseh ah...

My baby son - Rayhan (^__^)/~~~~

This is my son...His Expected due date is supposed to be 29 October 2006 but he can't wait to see this world and to see his daddy and mommy...So his birth date is 30 September 2006, birth time is 9.30pm. He weighs 3.155kg and he is a premature baby (35 weeks 6 days). Doc kek said he is very healthy for a premature baby. heehee...isn't he cute and perfect....hahaha guess in all parents' eyes, their baby is always perfect and beautiful to them....

30 September 2006 - Unexpected delivery

We reached clinic around 11.30am...When it was my turn, I told Doc Kek i had cramps whole night. Then she checked and said that i already dilated 1 cm. She then put me thru CTG and result showed that i was having contraction and it was getting stronger. Doc kek immediately asked me to admit to hospital and said i would be delivering today. Before we admitted to delivery suite, i ate a bit of muffin and milk from the coffee bean @ mount e.
Contraction was getting stronger...I was still in daze when i went into the delivery suite as i couldn't believe i was going to deliver
anytime. I didn't even bring my hospital bag along (not even my IC). 1.30pm i was in the delivery suite and the nurse strapped equipment over my stomach to check baby's heart beat and contraction. At 3pm, Doc kek came and checked how much i dilated and initially she said it was still 1 cm...then she checked again and realised it was 3cm and accidentally broke the water bag as my membrane was thin. I felt the water flushed out of my V area and immediately i asked for dripping of the antibiotic for Streptoccocus Group B(i am a carrier). Only around 3.30pm they put me thru drip. Then after the water bag burst, the dilation was like an hour 1-2 cm...The nurses kept asking me if i want epidural or injection or laughing gas...i totally denied all these as i promised to God to give me a healthy baby and in return i will go thru natural delivery without any aid and suffer the pain. But at 6 plus pm, the contraction was so strong that my back was aching badly...nurse begged me to use laughing gas to relax myself if not i would not have enough energy for the actual pushing. Bo pian, i used the laughing gas but it didn't help at all for me...the mask kept dropping off and in the end, i was breathing my own carbon dioxide then laughing gas...I was so tired that i couldn't hold the mask myself but sought for my husband's help to hold the mask for me. But still i breathed in late and in fact overdosed and i felt 'ma bok'. I kept opening my eyes and looked around to keep myself conscious. At 8.50pm i screamed at my husband to ask Doc kek to let me deliver now as i couldn't endure anymore. Then only at 9pm sharp, Doc kek came in, looking like a fishmonger with the plastic white apron and had the PCK construction white boots standing by. Finally my dilation was 10cm and she said 'It's time to push'. Initially i kept pushing the wrong place (try to concentrate @ the V area) but after pushing for 15mins, the baby's head still not showing. Then Doc Kek said 'Push like u are having constipation'. Then i pushed the poo poo area (i am good at this as since young, i have been having sever constipation, hahaha). At 9.30pm, Rayhan was out into this world and his crying was so loud and clear (didn't need any slapping of bum). Doc kek asked my husband to cut the umbilical cord but the cord was so thick (for premature) that he had to cut twice. Then Doc Kek placed my baby son on me...i saw my son and i cried...he is perfect!!!

29 September 2006 - Blood Show!

In office, around late morning went to toilet to poo poo...Then was cleaning up myself i saw blood curd in the toilet bowl and it freaked me. Then i wiped my poo poo area and there wasn't blood. But when i wiped the V area, it had mucus-like discharge and it was bloody! I went back to my desk and surfed online to see what this bloody-mucus was about and online said it is called 'Blood Show' meaning that the mucus plug that seals the cervix has come off and cervix will soon open up! I called the clinic and the nurse asked me if i had constipation and i said yes. So she told i pushed too hard and caused the poo poo area to bleed. She told me to observe for few days. Then after an hour, i called the nurse again and told her i was not bleeding @ the poo poo area but the V area and she asked me to come for appointment checkup the next day (saturday) around 11am (clinic works half day). This night was horrible as i started to have cramps throughout the night....to be continued...

Baby's room and accessories

These pictures are taken weeks ago. Bought most of the essential stuffs for baby Rayhan from malaysia (cheaper). His room is cool greenish blue color. The shelf is from ikea @ $45. Cheap cheap...next time when baby Rayhan is bigger and has more stuffs, then will get him better shelf. The baby cot's mattress set is very expensive because daddy wants to give baby Rayhan the best. The side cushioning is very thick and bouncy kind. Bought the combi stroller from Baby Kingdom at a discounted price together with the mattress set. Simple room. Now waiting for the seahorse single sofa bed to arrive (to be used by the confinement lady and next time for guest).

28 September 2006 - Blood!!!!

Sigh...i've been bleeding/spotting since 32 weeks (now 35 weeks 5 days). But this morning, it had worsen. The whole panty liner was stained with blood and the toilet bowl could find small blood curd. sigh...freak me out and i came to office and quickly called the clinic. Nurse asked me to monitor few days to see if the blood is consistently a lot and if has pain, then must see Doc Kek. Sigh...sob sob...

27 September 2006 - Baby crochet shoes

Since i started this blog, so must upload more pix to share with everyone. So i took out my digital camera and took pix of the pair of crochet baby shoes i finished last week. This shoe color matches baby's room color. Hee...Not enough cotton thread to make a hat (same design) for baby. But okay lar...shoes are cute enough. Hope my baby son is not too big and is able to wear this pair of shoes on his day of discharge from hospital. So anyone wants to place order? hahaha....

26 September 2006 - Baking birthday cake for baby's daddy

In the morning went for gynae checkup. Lied to my husband that i want to eat strawberry and so we went to the fruit shop @ mount E to buy a box of strawberry. Wanted to get blueberry and raspberry but the shop only ordered one box for someone. So bo pian, only managed to get the strawberry. After the gynae checkup, went home and sent my husband off for work. Quickly i went online to copy down the recipe from hersheys.com. While baking the cake, i realised i lacked icing sugar. So bo pian had to go to IMM to get it. Bought prune juice (cannot output recently), icing sugar and a pair of imitation croc slippers (in bright pink) @ $9.90 because my slippers (bought from Japan @ SDG$75 from my twin sis) was stolen as i placed it outside my house. Rushed back home as i set my cake to bake for an hour which actually according to the recipe only needs to bake for 30-35mins...the moment i opened the door i could smell the chocolate cake aroma. Luckily the cake wasn't burnt. I finished making the cake and frosting by 4pm and quickily took a nap. Woke up @ 5.30pm and quickily spread the frosting over the cake and decorated it with huge strawberry and kept it in the vegetable compartment of the fridge so that my husband would not see it. Came back after having dinner @ mother-in-law place and i took out the cake around 10.30pm with candled lit up. My husband was surprised to see the birthday cake (his birthday is on 28 September but i only have today to bake it). I took pictures of him in pyjamas cutting the cake...very cute (cannot share the pix...personal viewing only hahaha). The birthday cake is a success =), my husband likes the cake...yummy.

26 September 2006 - Gynae Checkup

Today went for gynae checkup @ mount E. Before checkup, went to visit my friend whose wife has given birth to a princess (their 3rd child, first 2 are sons) and they name her SHAYNA. The baby gal is 3.53kg (estimated birth weight is 3.2kg). Both mommy and baby are doing fine. Had a long chat with them before i went up for my checkup. Waited almost 1 1/2 hrs before we got our turn for detailed scanning. I requested Doc Kek to check my baby son's hands/legs/mouth to make sure he's normal. Our baby son is looking chubby and esp. his foot! Doc Kek said he's normal and looking good. And the estimated weight today is 2.86kg (35 weeks and 3 days). Doc Kek said estimated birth weight is 3.4kg. Doc Kek also explained that the redness on my legs are called FLUSHING due to hormone change. The day before i accidentally slipped and fell on my bum while walking down the stairs. I told Doc Kek and she said baby is okay and asked me to be more careful. Kind of scary accident when i fell, i was in dazed after i fell and sat on the stair. My mind went blank and was so scared and held my stomach tightly. Luckily after the checkup, Doc Kek reassured that baby is doing fine. Heng ah...

15 September 2006, Sewing of baby cot's accessories holder

Bought the cloth and thread (everything below cost price of $10) from AMK. Started sewing the baby cot's accessories holder from 9++pm and finished it around 1++am (next day). It comprises of 1st level (4 pockets), 2nd level (3 pockets) and 3rd level (2 big pockets). Using nice yellow ribbons to tie it to the cot. Very satisfied with the end result. Can put a lot of things. Look quite professional hor...hahaha...Anyone wants to place order?
